The SEARCH2018 Telehealth Research Symposium, scheduled for October 24 – 25 in San Diego, CA, will focus on sharing findings from existing telehealth research to demonstrate lessons learned from connected health programs with an emphasis on planning, research, training and education. It will provide insight for developing new programs and encourage emphasis on quality initiatives and telehealth measures.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER – Dr. Peter Yellowlees

The SEARCH2018 Telehealth Research Symposium is thrilled to announce one of this year’s keynote speakers, Dr. Peter Yellowlees!

Dr. Yellowlees will lead a thought-provoking discussion on what researchers in virtual care should be examining now and what areas and approaches to research will be needed in the future.

Dr. Yellowlees is Vice Chair for Faculty Development and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California Davis. He is the immediate Past President of the American Telemedicine Association and a member of the American Psychiatric Association and University of California’s workgroups on Telepsychiatry.

 He has a number of research interests and is presently working on the development and validation of asynchronous telepsychiatry, automated translation and clinical interpreting systems, internet e-mail and video consultation services and assessment and treatment protocols to improve physical health and wellness.

PANEL DISCUSSION – Measuring Value in Telehealth: Finding the Right Solution or Asking the Wrong Question?

A paradigm shift is occurring in healthcare that spans the volume of services delivered to the value created for patients and health systems.

In fact, the paradigm shift is becoming one of the most pressing issues in healthcare today, with key factors that include significant provider shortages, a growing senior population, and the retirement of practicing doctors.

Alternative delivery models such as telehealth have been promoted as one way to address the changing healthcare landscape.

Join Kelly Ko, PhD, Principal Investigator at West Health Institute, as he moderates an informative discussion focused on evaluating the impact of telehealth from the Clinical Provider, Health System Administrator, and Payer perspectives.

Since 2010, the South Central Telehealth Resource Center (SCTRC) has been providing telehealth training and technical assistance. We offer a wide variety of services and resources to help develop, maintain, and expand telehealth services. While we strive to help anyone reaching out to us for assistance, we prioritize the needs of those who work with rural and other underserved communities and populations in our region — Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The SCTRC offers in-person and virtual assistance including on-site demos at our regional telehealth training centers, and popular online resources here such as billing and reimbursement guides, beginner courses, a variety of webinars and recordings, podcasts, and more. The SCTRC team is eager to hear more about your efforts and to brainstorm how we could work together to expand telehealth adoption.
