Mom’s Mind Matters: Improving Maternal Mental Health Diagnoses, Outcomes, and Care

August 20 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Becoming a mother can be a joyful, fulfilling, and even exhilarating experience! However, that same peripartum period—spanning pregnancy and the first year postpartum—can also bring profound emotional and psychological challenges for many women. A wide spectrum of mental health conditions from depression to anxiety to rage, etc. can emerge or worsen during this time. This obviously impacts both the birthing parent and their child which is why at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Dr. Wesley White and the Women’s Mental Health Clinic are at the forefront of addressing these types of challenges. Mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, postpartum psychosis, and PTSD affect 1 in 5 birthing parents, yet many struggle in silence due to stigma, lack of access to care, or systemic barriers. In Arkansas, where maternal mortality rates are higher than the national average, addressing these issues is critical. Join us on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 12:30PM CT for “Mom’s Mind Matters: Improving Maternal Mental Health Diagnoses, Outcomes, and Care”, a webinar focused solely on mental health conditions mothers face.
