Telemedicine is a rapidly expanding service field. It is an invaluable resource for those in remote areas and it is cost effective from all points of view. But, the process for setting it up and making it all work together has been shrouded in mystery. I don’t have all the answers, but I can share the lessons I’ve learned over the last 8 years.

Health Resources of Arkansas uses 19 Telemed units in 15 counties on a daily basis. We built our network from the ground up without any grant money or any outside advice; not because we were arrogant and self-sufficient, but because we weren’t aware of the multitude of resources available to help us do it cheaper and easier. If I knew then what I know now…

Brian Coltharpe, MA, will present his lecture, “If I Knew Then…What I Know Now, Lessons Learned from Building a Telehealth Network from the Ground Up” on October 18 at 3:00 pm Central Time via live web stream.

Mr. Coltharpe currently serves as the Director of Innovation for Health Resources of Arkansas. He holds a Masters in Psychology, is a member of MENSA and Rotary International and is quick to point out he has no formal IT Training…whatsoever.
