Dermatology training with CEU credit for primary care providers

One in four primary care visits includes some type of skin complaint.* In Mississippi, there are 47,440 patients per one dermatologist.** At UMMC alone, new patients may wait up to six weeks to see a dermatologist.

The UMMC Project ECHO for Dermatology empowers primary care providers to treat skin conditions in their communities through case based learning and didactics. Providers can also expand the treatment of skin condition in their practices by submitting cases for treatment feedback.

ECHO topics include:

Psoriasis
Acne and rosacea
Skin cancer prevention
Warts
Urticaria
Skin cancers

How ECHO works

The dermatology meeting is hosted on the Zoom video conferencing platform. It is held on the second Wednesday of the month from 11:45 am -12:45 pm. Providers will receive case submission links once they have registered as a participant.

About SCTRC

Since 2010, the South Central Telehealth Resource Center (SCTRC) has been providing telehealth training and technical assistance. We offer a wide variety of services and resources to help develop, maintain, and expand telehealth services. While we strive to help anyone reaching out to us for assistance, we prioritize the needs of those who work with rural and other underserved communities and populations in our region — Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The SCTRC offers in-person and virtual assistance including on-site demos at our regional telehealth training centers, and popular online resources here such as billing and reimbursement guides, beginner courses, a variety of webinars and recordings, podcasts, and more. The SCTRC team is eager to hear more about your efforts and to brainstorm how we could work together to expand telehealth adoption.

The SCTRC is staffed by telehealth professionals with backgrounds in nursing, business, education & instructional design, and mass media/communications.
