Building A Multi-Site Digital Health Network

On November 17-18, our team at the South Central Telehealth Resource Center (SCTRC) collaborated with the United States Telecommunications Training Institute (USTTI) to host 8 International Scholars from across the globe! This course, sponsored by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Institute for Digital Health & Innovation, provided a comprehensive overview for designing, developing, and delivering educational and clinical services using Digital Health technology.

The course is designed for individuals who are at the initial stages of networking health care professionals together for better continuing education and for better patient services. This training focused on the development of partnerships between medical centers and local health care providers, selection of appropriate technologies, technical operation, educational programming, and marketing clinical services.

The UAMS Institute for Digital Health & Innovation has been partnering with USTTI since 2009 to bring this course to life. This year, the USTTI Scholars received training from a number of faculty and staff at UAMS, telecommunications professionals, and participating local health professionals. The goal of this course was aimed to help participants describe how to evaluate the health care needs of communities, determine the model for partnership between health professionals, select needs that lend themselves to Digital Health solutions, determine the best type of Digital Health technology, describe how administrative, technical, teaching, and medical staff work together, and outline the development of continuing education programs using interactive technologies.
