Our Advisory Council member, Ryan Kelly, and his team at the Mississippi Rural Health Association, put on a great conference! We made a lot of new friends in Mississippi this week! There were 150 attendees at this year’s Mississippi Rural Health Conference. Many have already seen Telemedicine at work and are hopeful that Telemedicine will expand to help take care of the people of rural Mississippi. Tripp Johnson and Michael Osborne of the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Center on Telemedicine gave a talk entitled, “Advancing Telemedicine in Mississippi.” Sixty percent of Mississippians live in a rural area. UMMC has 165 sites of service offering over 30 specialties. They covered a couple of the programs they are currently focusing on – chronic disease management and the Mississippi Diabetes Telehealth Network. Mississippi has undoubtedly made great strides in the advancement of Telemedicine!
About SCTRC
Since 2010, the South Central Telehealth Resource Center (SCTRC) has been providing telehealth training and technical assistance. We offer a wide variety of services and resources to help develop, maintain, and expand telehealth services. While we strive to help anyone reaching out to us for assistance, we prioritize the needs of those who work with rural and other underserved communities and populations in our region — Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The SCTRC offers in-person and virtual assistance including on-site demos at our regional telehealth training centers, and popular online resources here such as billing and reimbursement guides, beginner courses, a variety of webinars and recordings, podcasts, and more. The SCTRC team is eager to hear more about your efforts and to brainstorm how we could work together to expand telehealth adoption.
