On December 4th, 2024, Terri Imus, Director of Operations for Clinical Telemedicine at the UAMS Institute for Digital Health & Innovation, attended the Arkansas Farm Bureau’s 90th Annual State Convention in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The event, which drew more than 1,000 farmers and ranchers from across the state, featured keynotes from Arkansas Farm Bureau President Dan Wright and Dwier Brown, the actor famous for his role as John Kinsella in Field of Dreams.
Imus led a session focused on the growing importance of telemedicine for rural communities, connecting with over 130 attendees. She provided an inside look at the work being done at the SCTRC Telehealth Training Centers, showcasing how telemedicine can enhance healthcare services. Maps of the training centers were also offered to help attendees better understand the initiatives underway.
In addition to the session, Imus had the opportunity to meet with various industry professionals, including representatives from Arkansas State University, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, the Arkansas Veterinarian Association, Arkansas Grown, and Arkansas Women in Agriculture. These conversations highlighted the value of collaboration across sectors and the shared commitment to improving agriculture and healthcare in Arkansas.
The event was a great platform for networking and discussing the future of farming, ranching, and rural healthcare in Arkansas, emphasizing the growing connection between technology and agriculture.
