Becoming a mother can be a joyful, fulfilling, and even exhilarating experience! However, that same peripartum period—spanning pregnancy and the first year postpartum—can also bring profound emotional and psychological challenges for many women. A wide spectrum of mental health conditions from depression to anxiety to rage, etc. can emerge or worsen during this time. This obviously impacts both the birthing parent and their child which is why at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Dr. Wesley White and the Women’s Mental Health Clinic are at the forefront of addressing these types of challenges. Mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, postpartum psychosis, and PTSD affect 1 in 5 birthing parents, yet many struggle in silence due to stigma, lack of access to care, or systemic barriers. Q1 2026 Telehealth Billing & Reimbursement Updates are now available!

The quarterly updates for the Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi Virtual Visit Billing Guides are now available!  These updates reflect key regulatory changes and ongoing efforts to keep providers up to date on virtual care guidelines.

On February 3, 2026, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026, was passed, extending Medicare telehealth flexibilities through December 31, 2027. This ensures continued access to virtual care for Medicare beneficiaries and reinforces the role of telehealth in modern healthcare delivery, particularly for rural and underserved communities.
