SUMMARY:Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Behavioral Health & Addictions: Innovations\, Risks\, and Ethical Considerations
DESCRIPTION:Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping behavioral health and addiction treatment\, offering new tools for clinical care\, training\, documentation\, and patient engagement. This webinar will introduce participants to the fundamentals of AI\, providing a broader understanding of its presence in everyday life—from predictive algorithms to virtual assistants—and its evolving role in healthcare. Experts will then explore AI applications specific to behavioral health\, including chatbots\, simulation training\, and clinical decision support. The session will also address critical ethical and safety considerations\, discussing the potential benefits\, challenges\, and best practices for responsible AI implementation. \nLearning Objectives \n\nDescribe the fundamentals of AI\, its presence in everyday life\, and its evolving role in healthcare.\nIdentify AI-driven applications relevant to behavioral health and addiction treatment\, such as chatbots\, training simulations\, and clinical decision support\, and assess their benefits and limitations.\nEvaluate ethical considerations\, risks (e.g.\, bias\, misinformation)\, and best practices for the safe and responsible use of AI in behavioral health settings.

SUMMARY:NCTRC Webinar—Breaking Down Barriers to Telehealth: How the Digital Health Readiness Screener Can Drive Equity and Access
DESCRIPTION:Discover how the new Digital Health Readiness Screener from Thomas Jefferson University is making a difference in telehealth access by identifying key barriers faced by diverse patient populations. This webinar will explore how the screener assesses technical readiness and quality of care concerns\, including digital literacy\, privacy\, and trust in telehealth. Join us to learn how this tool can support targeted interventions and help advance digital health equity across healthcare settings. \nPresented by: Kristin L. Rising\, MD\, MSHP – Executive Director\, Center for Connected Care; Professor\, Department of Emergency Medicine\, Sidney Kimmel Medical College; and Professor\, Colleges of Population Health and Nursing at Thomas Jefferson University

SUMMARY:MATRC Summit 2024 Call for Poster Abstracts
DESCRIPTION:The Mid-Atlantic Telehealth Resource Center (MATRC) invites you to submit an abstract for poster presentation at the 2024 MATRC Telehealth Summit.  This year our MATRC Summit is In-Person only and we are requiring all accepted poster presentations be in-person. \nThis year’s summit will explore Telehealth: Reimagining Care Beyond the Unwinding of the PHE. As we rapidly approach a time where telehealth is fully integrated into all of healthcare\, we will be navigating the latest trends and best practices in telehealth implementation\, remote patient monitoring\, virtual consultations\, and AI-driven healthcare solutions.    \nThe following categories of topics are of interest to attendees; however\, abstracts are not limited to these topic areas: \n\nTelehealth Clinical Best Practices:  Primary and specialty care telehealth best practices related to implementation\, outcomes\, sustainability\, etc.\nTelehealth Policies and their Impact on Telehealth Practice/Innovation: Reimbursement/payment models\, licensing/credentialing\, privacy/security\, state regulations\, etc.\nTelehealth Grant and Pilot Programs:  Implementation\, lessons learned\, outcomes\, etc.\nTelehealth Education and Training:  Models\, outcomes and impacts of telehealth education and training for undergraduate\, graduate and post-graduate/continuing education for health professions\, to include the training and education of interns\, residents\, and fellows.\n\nAll submissions should describe original work.  You may submit work that has been previously presented.  The call is open to clinicians\, faculty\, health care administrators/professionals\, and students from all disciplines. \nWe will only be accepting one abstract per lead presenter per organization. Lead presenters must also be an author or co-author on the submitted abstract. \n  \nFor more information and to submit:  https://matrcsummit.org/call-for-poster-abstracts/

SUMMARY:Telehealth in a Post-PHE World
DESCRIPTION:The PHE will end on May 11\, 2023. Are you ready? \nDescription: How do you develop a strategy when the target keeps moving? The COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) was accompanied by several waivers and flexibilities that removed many of the barriers to telehealth. The PHE has been extended in 90-day increments since the PHE began in 2020. It is currently set to expire in April 2023. It may or may not be extended another 90-days. In the meantime: \n• Some of the temporary flexibilities and waiver have been made permanent by CMS through changes to the published Physician’s Fee Schedules in 2021\, 2022 and now 2023.\n• Some of the temporary flexibilities and waivers will expire on the day the PHE is declared over.\n• Some of the flexibilities and waivers have been extended for 151 days after the end of the PHE.\n• Some of the flexibilities and waivers have been extended through December 31\, 2024. \nFor those of you who jumped on the telehealth bandwagon after the PHE\, you may or may not realize that the policy landscape for telehealth was very different prior to the PHE. If this describes you\, you may be in for a very rude awakening. Join Rebecca Canino as she discusses the many tools she has put in place to help her organization stay on top of all these confusing and sometimes chaotic changes. \nPresented by: Rebecca Canino\, MBA\, Executive Director\, Telemedicine\, Johns Hopkins Telemedicine \n

SUMMARY:MATRC Summit 2022 | Care Model Redesign: Navigating Digital Transformation
DESCRIPTION:Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic\, healthcare innovation was often discussed in the context of a five to ten-year strategic plan. COVID-19 has served as an accelerant to adoption and implementation of digital solutions. Processes that would have taken years under normal circumstances began coming to fruition in a matter of weeks and months. But where do we go from here? For some\, keeping up with all the movement toward on-demand healthcare\, big data and predictive analytics\, remote monitoring and wearable medical devices\, artificial intelligence and virtual reality has been exhausting and overwhelming. For others\, it is welcomed and exhilarating. Where are you on this continuum? How much do you trust that these disruptions in how we normally do business will actually result in improving patient outcomes\, efficiencies and/or creating a better work-life balance? Join us as we explore these and other questions related to care model redesign.

SUMMARY:MATRC 2017 Telehealth Summit: Quality and Innovation in Health Care
DESCRIPTION:How do we reduce costs and increase value\, improve patients’ experiences and outcomes\, apply and integrate new technologies into clinical practice\, and create greater access to quality healthcare? These goals require us to focus on both quality and innovation at the same time\, but can we have both? Quality involves adherence to standards\, application of best practices and the elimination of errors. Innovation on the other hand requires creativity. It demands a willingness to try new ideas and to experiment with out of the box thinking. It requires resources devoted to projects that have not been tested and may or may not succeed. Telehealth technologies offer the promise of improving what we are currently doing\, but also opens the door for finding new and better ways to do it. What does continuous quality and process improvement look like in telehealth? How can we be successful combining innovation with quality improvement? How do we manage new ideas\, effectively test them\, develop processes to evaluate them and establish mechanisms for continuous quality monitoring? Join us at the 2017 MATRC Telehealth Summit where we will take a closer look at these questions and more in the areas of behavioral health\, population health\, specialty and subspecialty care and telehealth technology. \nLearn more at http://matrcsummit.org/
