DESCRIPTION:Join Connecting Communities for their webinar: Broadband Under the Community Reinvestment Act! The webinar will be held on Thursday\, January 11 at 3:00 pm ET. \nThis hour-long webinar will highlight opportunities for local financial institutions to receive consideration for infrastructure investment under the Community Reinvestment Act administered by the Federal Reserve.  Each of the 12 Federal Reserve Banks seeks to promote economic development by investing in improvements to essential community infrastructure for health services\, education\, public safety\, affordable housing\, or broadband services\, among others.  Lower-income and rural communities continue to face diminished access to broadband and many services that rely on high-speed internet services\, including telehealth. \nSession Description:\nJust as broadband access plays a critical role in our lives\, access to broadband has become critically essential in community development—education and workforce development\, health\, housing\, small business development and access to financial services. The ability to access the internet is an important tool for workers to use to find and keep jobs in both urban and rural markets. Broadband access lags in many population segments\, including low-income and rural communities. \nUnder the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)\, infrastructure investment includes facilitating the construction\, expansion\, improvement\, maintenance or operation of essential infrastructure or facilities for health services\, education\, public safety\, public services\, industrial parks or affordable housing.
