SUMMARY:ATA EDGE Policy Conference 2024: The Telehealth Policy Imperative
DESCRIPTION:Proactive Policy Strategies to Support the Future of Telehealth  \nTelehealth policies and regulations allowing for wide access to telehealth are set to expire by December 31 and could revert back to pre-pandemic restrictions and outdated limitations. But many of these policies are expected to be temporarily extended\, potentially through 2026. The implications of this will be felt in all corners of the telehealth industry. \nAt the ATA EDGE 2024 Policy Conference\, we’ll take a moment to celebrate our telehealth policy successes and keep a keen eye towards the new year and new state and federal policy challenges that will face our industry. This year’s event will bring into focus the dynamic nature of telehealth policy in an unpredictable political environment\, as we build the forward-thinking strategies needed to continually pivot and adapt to evolving legislative priorities. \nJoin us to explore innovative approaches\, anticipate future trends\, and shape policies that will ensure the sustained growth and success of telehealth in an ever-changing healthcare landscape. \nAbout ATA EDGE 2024\n\nThe American Telemedicine Association is the only organization that addresses telehealth policy from all angles – state and federal legislative priorities and issues that affect our industry – as well as international policy perspectives and the trends and opportunities to advance telehealth as a permanent option for care delivery. \n\n\n\n\nFULL CONFERENCE PASS*\nMEMBER\nNON-MEMBER\n\n\n\n\nEarly Bird (Register by 10/30/2024)\n$895\n$1\,195\n\n\nStandard (Register by 11/27/2024)\n$995\n$1\,295\n\n\nOnsite\n$1\,195\n$1\,495

SUMMARY:An Updated Model of Rural Hospital Financial Distress
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will provide an overview of new research by the North Carolina Rural Health Research Program on the topic of rural hospital financial distress. The aim of this research was to create an updated Financial Distress Index (FDI) model that recognizes recent changes in the operating environment and uses financial performance\, government reimbursement\, organizational traits\, and market characteristics to predict the risk of rural hospital financial distress two years hence. Rural hospital profitability continues to be a challenge; having a model that can accurately predict financial distress and closure helps programs and policymakers better target resources to prevent closure or convert to other models of care.

SUMMARY:American Relief Act\, 2025 — Critical Outstanding Issues
DESCRIPTION:On Dec. 21\, 2024\, President Biden signed the American Relief Act\, 2025 (ARA)\, into law\, narrowly avoiding a federal government shutdown. Unlike the more comprehensive bill defeated in the House of Representatives two days earlier after President-elect Trump raised objections\, the ARA is a temporary solution to keep the federal government operating through the end of March. \nOn Wednesday\, Jan. 15\, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. ET\, PYA presents a new webinar\, “The American Relief Act\, 2025: How We Got Here\, What It Means\, Where We’re Headed.” During the webinar\, PYA’s Martie Ross and Kathy Reep will discuss the impact of the new law\, both by what’s included and what’s not. Ross and Reep will prognosticate what will happen in the first months of the Trump administration to address critical outstanding issues such as \n\nMedicare telehealth coverage\nMedicare physician pay cut\nPrice transparency\nSite-neutral payments\nMedicaid DSH payments\nHospital-at-home demonstration project\n\nAlso\, Martie and Kathy will discuss two proposed rules released in December: the Contract Year 2026 Medicare Advantage and Part D Proposed Rule and the proposed updates to the HIPAA Security Rule. \n

SUMMARY:UMMC & Hometown Pediatric Dermatology - ECHO Series
DESCRIPTION:Overview: This project aims to improve the treatment of pediatric skin conditions including eczema\, acne\, birthmarks\, warts\, and other pediatric skin diseases with the intended target audience of rural healthcare providers in the Upper Midwest.  Since over 30% of visits to primary care for children\, a skin-related complaint is noted\, and for nearly 60% of those patients\, it is their chief complaint; this ECHO aims to expand expertise for pediatricians\, family medicine physicians\, and APPs in assessing and treating pediatric skin conditions. Primary care professionals join board-certified pediatric dermatologists to discuss best practices and evidence-based approaches to pediatric skin disease and create an ongoing learning collaborative to empower primary care clinicians to deliver high-quality skin disease treatment. Each session consists of a mini-lecture followed by a discussion of attendee-provided patient cases with a pediatric dermatologist. Early access to expert care saves lives\, reduces healthcare costs\, and improves access to care for children and teens.  There are fewer than 400 board-certified\, practicing pediatric dermatologists in the United States\, with zero in Montana\, North Dakota\, or South Dakota; and one in Idaho and Wyoming\, in some states\, such as Minnesota\, Wisconsin\, Iowa\, and Michigan there are a few pediatric dermatologists\, but they are clustered in urban areas.  The distances are often too far for families to reasonably travel to seek specialty care\, given the size of the states and the challenges with winter weather (which lasts for up to 6 months per year). \nTopics Covered \n\nAtopic Dermatitis\nTopical treatments for pediatric and adolescent acne\nSeborrheic Dermatitis\nMolluscum Contagiosum\nMoles and Sun Protection\nImpetigo\n\nLink: https://iecho.org/public/program/PRGM1701792008640ZWOPNQ6LUA \nTarget Audience: Pediatric and Family Primary care clinicians\, nurses or other interested healthcare providers in areas with limited pediatric dermatology access across the Upper Midwest. There is no geographic restriction for participation. \nCommunity Clinicians will get CME/CEU in a virtual learning network through the University of Mississippi Medical Center. \nThe planners and speaker for today have no relevant financial relationships to disclose.
