SUMMARY:Keeping Care Local Via Telenephrology
DESCRIPTION:Rural hospitals often lack nephrology coverage or dialysis capabilities\, forcing patients with end-stage renal disease and other kidney conditions to travel elsewhere for care. Telenephrology provides 24/7 access to nephrologists and supports local staff in delivering dialysis when needed. This session will review how such programs improve access to specialty care\, maintain continuity for patients\, and enhance outcomes in rural settings. \n  \nOutcome Objectives \n•             Understand impact of chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease on U.S. healthcare and on the state of Arizona. \n•             Describe why nephrology is an ideal fit for telemedicine and options for introducing a telenephrology program. \n•             Explain how telenephrology is helping rural hospitals stay vital and financially stable in their communities.

SUMMARY:Inside access: Telemedicine for incarcerated patients
DESCRIPTION:In recognition of HIV Awareness Month this December\, this webinar explores how telemedicine is strengthening HIV care delivery and outcomes in the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADOC) system. This webinar will explore benefits of telemedicine in correctional systems—including improved management of chronic and infectious diseases such as HIV—while comparing virtual care to traditional brick-and-mortar models. Participants will learn how telemedicine supports patient engagement\, enhances safety\, and creates opportunities for experienced clinicians to meaningfully contribute to correctional health. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDescribe clinical\, operational\, and security advantages of telemedicine in correctional healthcare settings compared to traditional in-person models.\nIdentify common implementation challenges—including technology\, staffing\, and workflow considerations—and strategies used to overcome them in prison telemedicine programs.\nApply best practices for tele-triage\, clinical decision-making\, and interprofessional collaboration to effectively manage patient needs within correctional environments.

SUMMARY:UMMC & Hometown Pediatric Dermatology - ECHO Series
DESCRIPTION:Overview: This project aims to improve the treatment of pediatric skin conditions including eczema\, acne\, birthmarks\, warts\, and other pediatric skin diseases with the intended target audience of rural healthcare providers in the Upper Midwest.  Since over 30% of visits to primary care for children\, a skin-related complaint is noted\, and for nearly 60% of those patients\, it is their chief complaint; this ECHO aims to expand expertise for pediatricians\, family medicine physicians\, and APPs in assessing and treating pediatric skin conditions. Primary care professionals join board-certified pediatric dermatologists to discuss best practices and evidence-based approaches to pediatric skin disease and create an ongoing learning collaborative to empower primary care clinicians to deliver high-quality skin disease treatment. Each session consists of a mini-lecture followed by a discussion of attendee-provided patient cases with a pediatric dermatologist. Early access to expert care saves lives\, reduces healthcare costs\, and improves access to care for children and teens.  There are fewer than 400 board-certified\, practicing pediatric dermatologists in the United States\, with zero in Montana\, North Dakota\, or South Dakota; and one in Idaho and Wyoming\, in some states\, such as Minnesota\, Wisconsin\, Iowa\, and Michigan there are a few pediatric dermatologists\, but they are clustered in urban areas.  The distances are often too far for families to reasonably travel to seek specialty care\, given the size of the states and the challenges with winter weather (which lasts for up to 6 months per year). \nTopics Covered \n\nAtopic Dermatitis\nTopical treatments for pediatric and adolescent acne\nSeborrheic Dermatitis\nMolluscum Contagiosum\nMoles and Sun Protection\nImpetigo\n\nLink: https://iecho.org/public/program/PRGM1701792008640ZWOPNQ6LUA \nTarget Audience: Pediatric and Family Primary care clinicians\, nurses or other interested healthcare providers in areas with limited pediatric dermatology access across the Upper Midwest. There is no geographic restriction for participation. \nCommunity Clinicians will get CME/CEU in a virtual learning network through the University of Mississippi Medical Center. \nThe planners and speaker for today have no relevant financial relationships to disclose.

SUMMARY:Burnout & Telemental Health: Re-Connecting to Ourselves while Connecting to Others
DESCRIPTION:Burnout is ubiquitous in all aspects of health care\, but telemental health has its own unique challenges. Technology allows us to rapidly connect with patients anywhere in the country\, and yet technology also can\, paradoxically\, isolate us (working from home\, without colleagues)\, emotionally distance us from others (limiting emotional and non-verbal communication)\, and make us more sedentary and disconnected from our bodies. This talk will explore ways of mitigating telemental health burnout through enhancing human connection with ourselves and with patients.
