SUMMARY:Sexually Transmitted Diseases in the Community - ECHO Series
DESCRIPTION:Program Overview\nMississippi has the highest rate of  STI’s (Chlamydia\, Gonorrhea\, and Syphilis) in the United States. Mississippi has seen a remarkable increase in syphilis in recent years\, including a  > 1000% increase in congenital syphilis since 2016.  Community physicians and practitioners lack key information and are unaware of many resources available to help diagnose and treat STD’s. This project will train community providers\, throughout MS in the diagnosis\, prevention\, and management of STDs. \n  \nTopics Covered\n\nCongenital syphilis\nEpidemiology of STIs\nIdentifying and managing syphilis in adults\nGonorrhea and chlamydia\nHIV Prevention – PrEP\nSTD prevention DoxyPEP\nThe other STD’s – trichomonas\, M genitalium\, BV\n\n  \nTarget Audience\n\nPhysicians\nPhysician Assistants\nNurse Practitioners\nSocial Workers\n\nCertification & Credits\nAttending community clinicians will get free CE in a virtual learning network through the University of Mississippi Medical Center. \nHRSA Acknowledgment: This program is made possible by grant number U6631459\, Telehealth Centers of Excellence from the Office for the Advancement of Telehealth\, Health Resources and Services Administration\, DHHS \nContact Information\nFor more information\, please get in touch with us at tdobbs@umc.ed or divory@umc.edu

SUMMARY:UMMC & Hometown Pediatric Dermatology - ECHO Series
DESCRIPTION:Overview: This project aims to improve the treatment of pediatric skin conditions including eczema\, acne\, birthmarks\, warts\, and other pediatric skin diseases with the intended target audience of rural healthcare providers in the Upper Midwest.  Since over 30% of visits to primary care for children\, a skin-related complaint is noted\, and for nearly 60% of those patients\, it is their chief complaint; this ECHO aims to expand expertise for pediatricians\, family medicine physicians\, and APPs in assessing and treating pediatric skin conditions. Primary care professionals join board-certified pediatric dermatologists to discuss best practices and evidence-based approaches to pediatric skin disease and create an ongoing learning collaborative to empower primary care clinicians to deliver high-quality skin disease treatment. Each session consists of a mini-lecture followed by a discussion of attendee-provided patient cases with a pediatric dermatologist. Early access to expert care saves lives\, reduces healthcare costs\, and improves access to care for children and teens.  There are fewer than 400 board-certified\, practicing pediatric dermatologists in the United States\, with zero in Montana\, North Dakota\, or South Dakota; and one in Idaho and Wyoming\, in some states\, such as Minnesota\, Wisconsin\, Iowa\, and Michigan there are a few pediatric dermatologists\, but they are clustered in urban areas.  The distances are often too far for families to reasonably travel to seek specialty care\, given the size of the states and the challenges with winter weather (which lasts for up to 6 months per year). \nTopics Covered \n\nAtopic Dermatitis\nTopical treatments for pediatric and adolescent acne\nSeborrheic Dermatitis\nMolluscum Contagiosum\nMoles and Sun Protection\nImpetigo\n\nLink: https://iecho.org/public/program/PRGM1701792008640ZWOPNQ6LUA \nTarget Audience: Pediatric and Family Primary care clinicians\, nurses or other interested healthcare providers in areas with limited pediatric dermatology access across the Upper Midwest. There is no geographic restriction for participation. \nCommunity Clinicians will get CME/CEU in a virtual learning network through the University of Mississippi Medical Center. \nThe planners and speaker for today have no relevant financial relationships to disclose.

SUMMARY:Critical Telehealth Updates – The Status of Congress’s Financial Package and Telehealth Policy
DESCRIPTION:Numerous telehealth flexibilities created during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency have been extended year after year through federal financial packages and CMS policy. The end of 2024 brought significant uncertainty\, as many provisions of telehealth coverage for Medicare came down to the wire in a last minute\, 90-day extension just before they were set to expire on January 1. With the end of that 90-day extension passing on April 1\, 2025\, this session will address Congressional action that affects Medicare coverage of telehealth in 2025 and beyond.

SUMMARY:Integrating Frontlines of Care and Specialty Services: Digital Health Tools and Autonomous AI As the Missing Link
DESCRIPTION:This session explains how the strategic use of digital health tools and especially autonomous AI can streamline chronic disease management and improve outcomes. We focus on diabetes management and the autonomous diabetic eye exam as real world case studies at scale. As healthcare systems face increasing pressure to expand access and reduce costs\, digital modalities will no longer operate in silos but will converge into integrated care pathways. It allows frontlines of care such as primary care clinics (FQHCs) to focus on chronic disease management in its totality across all organ systems. Autonomous AI and other digital health decision support tools applied regularly to each of these patients\, ensures that those\, but only those\, patients that stand to benefit from specialty care for a complication\, will be identified\, scheduled and followed through via telehealth or in-person care . Attendees will gain insight into how these tools work in tandem to transform care delivery into a continuous process and shift the model from reactive treatment to proactive prevention. \n  \nPresented by: Michael D. Abramoff\, MD\, PhD – The Robert C. Watzke\, MD Professor in Retina Research\, Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences\, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)\, Professor of Biomedical Egineering (BME) Sciences at the University of Iowa

SUMMARY:Use and Usefulness of Billing Data to Estimate Telehealth Reach and Outcomes
DESCRIPTION:Publicly available licensed\, data are increasingly being used in telehealth studies\, but their usefulness for measuring telehealth vary. Our objective is to provide a succinct overview of strengths and weaknesses of using billing data to assist telehealth decision makers and data analysts in selecting data and interpreting published studies using such data. \nWe will: \n\nDescribe their strengths and weakness of measuring telehealth using billing dat\nShow summary comparison tables for five different data sets\nIllustrate use of the data in US “heat maps” of population rates of telehealth use\nDiscuss analyses examples for behavioral health\, primary care and dementia.

SUMMARY:Revolutionize Patient Onboarding: Real-Time Verification That Delivers & Complies
DESCRIPTION:As telehealth and telemedicine continue to reshape the healthcare landscape\, one challenge stands out: verifying patient identities quickly\, securely\, and at scale to meet compliance requirements such as HIPAA\, DEA and licensure to ensure you are treating the right patient. Manual ID verification methods aren’t just slow—they leave room for error\, open the door to fraud\, and can jeopardize compliance with patient privacy regulations. \nIn this webinar\, we will leverage our extensive experience—automating nearly one million verifications each month using AI—to demonstrate how leading organizations are implementing patient identity verification to ensure safe and efficient virtual care. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nHow to ensure compliance with HIPAA\, DEA and licensure through secure identity verification.\nWays to prevent identity theft & fraud in telemedicine and virtual prescriptions.\nWhy automated verification improves safety and accurate patient personal data Operational benefits including faster onboarding\, streamlined scheduling\, and reduced administrative overhead.\nHow AI-powered solutions offer a frictionless patient experience with biometrics and smart workflows.\nHow automated patient ID verification is driving better outcomes for a leading telehealth provider.
