The Telehealth Resource Centers provide technical assistance to healthcare organizations, networks, and providers. One way this is accomplished is through connecting up-and-coming telehealth programs with established organizations.
The South Central Telehealth Resource Center (SCTRC) has a long-standing relationship with Dr. Sarah Rhoads, Professor and Chair for the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center’s (UTHSC) Department of Community and Population Health. Dr. Rhoads played a vital role in the implementation of one of SCTRC’s remote telehealth training centers, which is located on the campus of UTHSC.
During a technical assistance request from Dr. Rhoads on another topic, it was revealed that UTHSC was interested in further developing their SANE program. The SCTRC is familiar with several established telehealth programs and offered to connect the UAMS TeleSANE and UTHSC SANE Training and Education through Partnerships for Underserved Populations (STEP UP) teams, especially since UTHSC is interested in implementing a telehealth component.
After an initial virtual meeting, which introduced the teams and provided an opportunity to share programmatic resources, SCTRC assisted with coordinating a visit for the UTHSC STEP UP team to meet on-site in Little Rock, AR with the UAMS TeleSANE team in June 2022. The teams discussed equipment, call schedules, consultant needs, workflows, and potential programmatic barriers. While on campus, they also toured the UAMS Emergency Department, which partners with the TeleSANE team to conduct consultations.
